HELLO SINGLE

computer music

In 2017, I worked on the music of Only One of Many (OOOM), a dance and music cowritten with choreographer DD Dorvillier. In this piece the spectator watches all two part combinations between a dance made with one single repeated movement, a music piece made with one repeated sound, a dance with movements that never repeat, a music composition with sounds that never repeat. In order to make this one, I worked with Charles Bascou (computer music programmer) on a programme that generates a succession of sounds, all different from the others in terms of pitch, spectrum, rythm, etc… Each time OOOM was performed, I ran the programme to generate a new music.

Never Repeated Never Repeating Music (NRNRM) uses the same algorithm. The music can be generated in the context of acousmatic concerts, for any number and setup of loudspeakers. No duration limits. It has been performed in Albi, Athens, Rennes and Paris.

Here is one simulation: 31 sounds for a total duration of 6’30. It was generated on 5th of january 2019 at 12.33pm.

Another one: 175 sounds for a total duration of 2’30. It was generated on 5th of january 2019 at 12.40pm.
