Oiseaux/tonnerre is a two-part work. It consists in an installation in the cloak room of an abandoned coal mine, the Puits Morandat, near Marseilles and a sound walk on Sainte-Victoire Mountain (which was made famous by Cézanne through numerous paintings).
The sound walk is a 2 hour trip up the mountain. Lead by a map designed for the piece, the hiker listens to the piece at three pre-determined points along the trail: a headland, a cave, and an abandoned marble quarry. This sound walk uses binaural techniques and is meant to be listened to on headphones.
