And the students of La Comédie de Reims
La Veille is an immersive sound environment in the dark. The audience space is a central irregular perimeter bounded by a high fabric fence. The sound and light sources are located behind this fence at various positions. The audience can not see the area behind the curtains, nor the sound sources.
The 10 speakers play successively or simultaneously, a narrator, a night-time forest soundscape recorded on a multi-microphone system, an algorithmic electronic music composition based on prime numbers, the recording of a vocalized imitation of the electronic composition.
The composition is a 30 minute loop and uses the widespread sound system (some speakers being very close to the fence, some others being as far as possible).
